Who considers a vasectomy

Simple, Fast, Clear

From consultation to clearance in 3 steps

1

Book a consultation

Call, book online or send an enquiry. Most patients are seen within a few days. No GP referral needed. The initial consultation is £250.

2

The procedure

A day case procedure with a consultant anaesthetist, usually completed in 15 to 20 minutes. Most men go home the same day and return to light activity within 48 hours.

3

Recovery and clearance test

Avoid strenuous activity for around a week. A semen test 12 to 16 weeks later confirms success before you can rely on it as contraception.

What's Involved

No-scalpel vasectomy under one consultant

A minimally invasive technique using a small puncture rather than an incision, carried out as a day case with a consultant anaesthetist.

Common Questions

Before you book

How much does a private vasectomy cost in London?
An initial consultation with Mr Ghei is £250. The vasectomy itself is a fixed package price of £4,130, which covers the hospital fee, the surgeon fee, the anaesthetist fee and both post-vasectomy semen samples. There are no hidden extras. Most insurers treat vasectomy as an elective procedure and do not cover it, so most patients are self-funding.
Is a vasectomy painful?
The procedure is carried out under anaesthetic with a consultant anaesthetist present, so you should not feel pain during it. Mild discomfort, bruising and swelling in the days afterwards is normal and usually settles with over-the-counter painkillers and supportive underwear.
How long does recovery take?
Most men return to light activity, including desk-based work, within 48 hours. Strenuous exercise, heavy lifting and sexual activity are usually best avoided for about a week.
Is a vasectomy immediately effective?
No. Contraception must continue until a semen test, usually taken 12 to 16 weeks after the procedure, confirms no sperm are present.
Can a vasectomy be reversed?
Reversal surgery is possible but is a separate, more involved procedure, and success in restoring fertility is not guaranteed. A vasectomy should be considered a permanent decision, and this is discussed fully at consultation.
What is the difference between no-scalpel and conventional vasectomy?
A no-scalpel vasectomy uses a small puncture rather than a surgical incision. It generally means no stitches, less bleeding and a quicker recovery, though both achieve the same result.
Does it affect sex drive, hormones or orgasm?
No. A vasectomy only affects the tubes carrying sperm. It does not change testosterone production, sex drive, erections or the sensation of orgasm.
Can I get an NHS vasectomy instead?
Yes, in principle, though availability varies a great deal by area. Many GP practices no longer offer it on-site, and some local NHS areas have restricted or paused routine referrals. Going private avoids that uncertainty.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book a private vasectomy consultation directly without a GP referral. With your permission, Mr Ghei will write to your GP after your appointment.
