What Private Prostate Screening Costs

Not every patient needs every test. Where you start depends on your situation.

General symptoms or routine check-up? Most patients start with a consultation and Mr Ghei advises on tests from there.
Worried about cancer, a raised PSA or a family history? It is often better to arrange your blood test or MRI first so Mr Ghei can review your results at your first appointment. Call us and we will advise the right first step before you book anything.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can I get a prostate screening appointment?
Most men are seen within a few days of enquiry. Mr Ghei holds clinics across 4 London hospitals, so there is usually availability at a location convenient to you. If cancer is suspected, it is usually better to have tests arranged 1st followed by a consultation with Mr Ghei to review and discuss any results - contact us to establish what is best for you.
Costs vary depending on whether PSA blood / urine tests, scans or biopsies are required. As an approximate guide: * Urologist Consultation - £250
* Blood & Urine Tests - from £297
* Prostate MRI scan - from £797
For most men, screening is worth considering from age 50. If you have a family history of prostate or breast cancer, or if you are of black ethnicity, that age drops to 45.
Avoid ejaculation for 48 hours before the test, vigorous exercise (especially cycling) for 48 hours, and any urinary tract procedures or catheter use for the previous six weeks. All of these can temporarily raise PSA and skew the result.
No. You can book a private prostate screening directly. With your permission, we will write to your GP afterwards to keep them informed.
Yes. Mr Ghei is recognised by all major UK insurers including Bupa (Platinum consultant), AXA Health, Vitality, WPA, Cigna and Aviva. We can also provide pre-authorisation codes if your insurer requires them.
